Particles that should not be in the fuel are filtered out of the solution with a fuel filter. This dirt could be water, sand or dust that possibly entered the fuel during a fill up. Without the filter these contaminants can reach the engine unopposed. Ensure a regular replacement of the fuel filter FF5862 of Fleetguard. Replacing the Fleetguard fuel filter
The fuel runs through the fuel hose to the combustion chamber of the engine. The fuel filter is specifically designed by Fleetguard to filter out the water and particles from the fuel. These water and pieces will slowly clog the filter. When the filter is used for a longer time it is a good measure to replace it for a brand new Fleetguard Filter. The parts manual prescribes where the fuel filter is mounted on the machine. Normally this will be mounted on a convenient place between the engine and the fuel tank. The fuel enters the fuel filter through a specific inlet and the filtered fuel will exit through an outlet. Make sure you connect the fuel filter in the right way.
