Expert tip: overhaul or replacement
When a gear pump's performance declines, it is not always necessary to replace the entire pump. An increase in play, leakage along the shaft or a dropping working pressure often points to wear of the seals or the pump housing. In many cases a seal kit or repair kit is enough to restore the pump to its original performance. Before you decide, always check the displacement, the rotation direction and the connection sizes, and compare these with the specifications of your machine. Bear in mind that contamination in the hydraulic oil can considerably shorten the service life of a new or overhauled pump.
By acting in good time, you prevent a worn pump from placing extra load on the motor and the other components in the circuit. A well-maintained gear pump ensures a stable flow and reliable operation of your entire installation.
